Islamists are everywhere

Islamists are gaining power in the new changing Middle East. From Morocco to Egypt it is Islamists who have succeeded in getting the popular votes in the free and fair elections being held after the dismantling of tyrant rulers.

Reports coming from Egypt point out that Islamists are getting closer to power. After the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak the generals continue their vice-like grip over the country but it is understood that this election results may force them to step down.

In the first part of the elections that drew millions of democracy enthusiasts, the Muslim Brotherhood has gained a good number of votes. Chances are they may form the next government. It would be interesting to see how the West, Israel and the US react to the development. Their dislike of Brotherhood is well known.

When the Hamas was elected to power in a free and fair election in Palestine, the West had boycotted it. Will it do so this time too?

Moreover, the big question is will the army that recently named a new prime minister hand over power to the newly elected party? Despite elections, Egypt is at the crossroads. Coming days would be crucial for the region, generals and Islamists.
