Anna tsunami may rattle Cong from Dec 11

Activist Anna Hazare is girding up for another showdown with the Congress-led UPA government. Anti-corruption crusader Anna has decided to unleash agitation from December 11 provided the Parliamentary standing committee doesn't accept their proposals on the Jan Lokpal bill.

In a call to supporters of anti-graft bill, Anna was quoted as saying by his aide Suresh Pathare: “Please join the dharna at Jantar Mantar on December 11 for a strong Janlokpal.” The Congress party that is readying itself for an important political battle in UP has gone jittery. The party leaders know that another Anna protest would damage party’s reputation in the coming assembly election in an important state and hence they would not like any confrontation with the public.

Till know the government has been assuring the protesters that a strong Jan Lokpal bill would be passed.

Anna’s decision to call for another protest has divided society with many strongly against such a move and some supporting it. Anti-Anna lobby feels that the activist is trying to blackmail the government and such things should be discouraged.
Recently Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar too had expressed his displeasure when his government’s introduced Jan Lokpal was called weak by Team Anna. Kumar had blasted the activists for their pressure tactics.

Despite differences in view a large number of Indians is Anna supporter. They argue that such anti-graft movement should be strengthened so that venal politicians and others are taken to task for looting the state exchequer.
